Create the Shortcut

    Open the Shortcuts app

    It's pre-installed on every iPhone. Search for "Shortcuts" if you can't find it.

    Tap the + button

    Top right corner. Name your shortcut Grab Video.

    Add action: "Get URLs from Input"

    Tap "Add Action", search for URLs, select "Get URLs from Input". This captures the link when you share from another app.

    Add action: "Get Contents of URL"

    Search for Get Contents of URL and add it. Then configure it:

    URL https://grab.breakglass.tech/api/download
    Method POST
    Request Body JSON
    Key url
    Value URLs

    Tap "Show More" to reveal Method/Body options. For the value, tap the field and select the URLs variable from step 3.

    Add action: "Choose from Menu"

    Search Choose from Menu. Set the prompt to Save to... and add two options: Photos and Files.

    Under "Photos": Add "Save to Photo Album"

    Tap inside the Photos menu section. Add the action Save to Photo Album. It will automatically use the downloaded video.

    Under "Files": Add "Save File"

    Tap inside the Files menu section. Add the action Save File. You can optionally set a default folder.

Enable the Share Sheet

    Tap the info button (i) at the bottom

    Or tap the shortcut name at the top to open settings.

    Turn on "Show in Share Sheet"

    This makes the shortcut appear when you tap the share button in any app.

    Set "Share Sheet Types" to URLs

    Tap "Share Sheet Types" and select URLs and Safari web pages.

Tip: Tap "Done" to save. Your shortcut is now ready to use.

Use It

  1. 1
    Find a video on X, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook
  2. 2
    Tap the Share button

    The standard iOS share button (box with arrow).

    Scroll down and tap "Grab Video"

    It'll be in the actions list. You may need to scroll to find it the first time.

    Choose "Photos" or "Files"

    Photos saves it to your camera roll. Files lets you pick a folder.

Done! The video downloads and saves automatically. No browser, no paste, no waiting.
